With all the latest English software programs and websites developed today in the Internet, almost anyone would say that the English language is becoming an easier subject for those who wish to learn this language. However, most people are fast becoming too dependent on these programs. Essays, written assignments, even public documents which are supposed to be unique and original are all taken from the Internet and this is not a very good strategy, most especially to those who are not very good with the English language. Let’s say that a power failure hit your house and you need to do an essay for your school work and now that the PC is off, how can you do it? Then at this very moment, you will need to use the one thing that most of us may have already forgotten: the dictionary.

Yes, the dictionary. How many of us have remembered during the olden days, when computers did not exist yet that we always rely on the dictionary to help us when dealing with the English language. Unfortunately, this book is now taken for granted because of the existence of English checkers and other programs that deal with English grammar. But it is often advisable to use the dictionary to increase your expertise with the English vocabulary.

In order for you to increase your word power, it is a good practice to make a list of all English words that you have encountered that might seem too difficult for you to understand. Once this is done, you can then consult the dictionary and then write down what they mean. You can also practice using those words by writing them down into sentences to further improve your writing skills. If you want, you can have someone accompany you in this exercise and both of you can compare your answers. Do not underestimate the English dictionary for it has guided almost all generations when it comes to learning perfect English.

So if I were you, you might want to take a look at your old dictionary in order to improve your English grammar. Besides, it might save you from boredom when you don’t have anything to do.

In this modern age, writing has become a necessary skill for almost everyone in all walks of life. Students, teachers, anyone who has already learned the basics would want to know more about writing more effectively in order to let their ideas and feelings be felt by their readers. However, English writing has always been a challenge, most especially with those who are born in non-English speaking countries. For decades, the English language have been changed several times already and because of this, those who are not gifted with the art of the writing good English language still have hope. Here are some three easy but effective tips for you to improve your English writing skills:

Use the dictionary – Anyone knows this already but this is always taken for granted. Most people are afraid of taking a dictionary at school or at work because of being made fun of by colleagues and friends. The dictionary can be your most powerful tool in your search for English language enlightenment for it contains thousands of words that you can study and memorize for you to use in writing. If you don’t like the idea of bringing that big Webster dictionary, then you can always settle for the small ones.

Check for online help – One of the sound advices that I give is to check out some online help with the English language like the Meriam Webster website. The Internet is a very reliable source of information and everyone has access to it. If you don’t own a laptop or a personal computer, then you can go to the nearest Internet Café and then start on an online course to improve your English proficiency.

Practice makes perfect – This should be one rule that everyone must certainly follow. If you want to write perfect English, then you need to practice hard. Check your spelling, verb agreements, tenses and sentence construction. Write down your mistakes and research the difficult words that you may have encountered in the course of your practice. An ideal practice would be to write down an essay about an interesting topic and then keep on writing until you have perfected it. If you want, you can have someone good in English check it for you.

Writing English effectively is a long way to go, most especially if you are not born with a gift for this language but constant practice can indeed help you out. Be prepared to study hard and remember that dedication and complete interest with this activity are the key to perfecting this skill. If you are still not having any luck, then you can try getting professional help or an English writing software in order to help you within a short amount of time but there are costs as well. But if you do not want to incur extra expenses, then these three simple tips can do wonders.
